Dear Reader,
We were in an uproar recently since some cabbit, that will remain anonymous, mass e-mailed all subscribers with a poll as to whether or not you are cold. It has been added to the ANL constitution that ‘No one shall mass e-mail everyone with or for anything, unless it gets a 2/3 majority from staff on penalty of auto-unsubscribe.’ It also doesn’t help the cabbit that I have a fear of cabbits. The ANL has been around for six months now, and we’re realizing that we are quickly running out of stuff to review. Fortunately, Shampoo watches a large variety of animé, Fuji’s getting an order soon, and I (along with ol’ Locke) am getting a good ol’ shipment of animé sometime soon. If any of you would like to submit reviews (minus DVD quality remarks), we’d love to post them (besides... Locke and Lain The Typhoon are the only two eligible for Fan Writer of the Year at the next Animé Awards Night, do you want them to get it?).
Sincerely,
Sephiroth

Video Game Review: Final Fantasy Anthologies
Written by Locke
Locke: ***** Sephy: **** (lose one star for FFV)
Square Soft has released two of the greatest SNES RPGs for Playstation in one package: Final Fantasy V and Final Fantasy VI (previously called FFIII), and a bonus music CD!
Final Fantasy V (never before released in the US) is a bit dry, with a sad storyline, drab characters, and insanely tough monsters. It does have the job class option (which was improved upon in Final Fantasy Tactics), which enhanced the game play, but it left us with an ill feeling that we couldn’t always use cure magic.
The real reason most people bought FFA was for Final Fantasy VI, the best Final Fantasy game ever (even Sephy agrees with that one). The story is set very far after the apocalyptic War of the Magi. A group of rebels, known as the Returners (with the world’s greatest treasure hunter, Locke!!!), are fighting against the tyranny of the evil Empire (loaded to boot with magitek armor). Magitek armor is really cool robotic suits (which look like chocobos in the movies… yes, that’s right, movies) powered by the souls of espers, you know, the stuff used during the War of the Magi. Oops. Are those in power on the verge of repeating a deadly mistake? Remember love? Final Fantasy VI is filled with memorable characters, awesome BGM, and enemies that take strategy to kill. If you haven’t played it yet, I would suggest getting it.

Movie Review: Ranma 1/2 the Movie 2: Nihao my Concubine
Written by Sephy
Seanma: **** Bryoga: *****
The movie was very good (if not confusing if you didn’t see any of the series). During a cruise on Kuno’s sailboat “The Biensense,” a storm brews up and all of our favorite characters from Ranma 1/2 end up stranded on an island. In a short bit, all of the girls (minus Cologne) end up getting kidnapped by Prince Toma, the regality of this floating island that contains water that turns anything it touches into a man! With this knowledge, Mousse, Ryoga, Ranma, and Genma charge the island to get the water. Eh... they’re also assumingly after the girls, too. What does Toma want with all these girls? Well, he’s forcing them to compete in a Martial-arts (surprise, surprise) Marriage Contest with him getting the winner. Will the girls be saved? Can Ranma win the Martial-arts Marriage Contest? What about the water of Togenkyo that can turn anything into a man?

BATTLE SQUARE NEO (Actually, it’s a beach)
Sephy: I knew I shouldn’t have taken that three hour tour...
Skuld: A three hour tour...
Purin: Who had the job of navigating?!
Sephy: *narrows eyes* That was YOU.
Purin: Well, you could have told me...
Sephy: RENZOKUKEN!!! *explosion slashes Purin and then star pings him*
Purin: Look’s like Team Jiggly’s blasting off again!!! *ping*
Genma: Shampoo’s missing!!!
Sephy: *looks shocked* WHAT?!
Genma: She was here just a second ago and then...
Sephy: W-WHAT HAPPENED TO HER?!
Genma: Don’t you know, boy, the South Japanese Seas are filled with giant man-eating Octopi!
Sephy: What?! Oh no!!!
Genma: Curse those evil octopi...
Ultros: *appears out of the water. Is a large purple octopi with sharp, pointy teeth* Don’t tease the octopus, kids.
Genma: So, Ultros, the King of the Octopuses’ Garden, we meet again for the first time.
Sephy: *draws Masamune* You’ll go down for...
Genma: No... I’ll handle this one!!! GRAW!!! *punches the octopus*
Ultros: I HATE muscle heads... *inks Genma*
Locke: *jumping out from behind a shrubbery* His weakness is fire!!!
Sephy: Where did YOU come from?
Genma: Whatever... fireball!!! *blasts Ultros*
Ultros: Ouch! HOT, HOT, HOT!!! *smiles* This time I’ve brought a friend... Mr. Chupon...
Chupon: Graw...
Ultros: He may not say much, but he’s worth ten of you in a battle.
Genma: This isn’t fair!!!
Mr. Saotoby: *jumps out from behind the shrubbery dressed exactly like Genma, but wielding Excalibur* I’ll help!
Ultros: *tentacles Genma and Saotoby*
Genma: *grabs a sword* Right, now!!!
Saotoby: *wields Excalibur and Cross-slashes with Genma against Ultros*
Ultros: Whew... I’ve had it!!! *returns to the sea*
Chupon: *sneezes and sends Genma and Saotoby flying off into the horizon and they star ping*
Shampoo: Nihao! Seanma want Shampoo ramen?
Sephy: No thank you, I don’t eat hair products along with my food... Shampoo?
Shampoo: Hiya?
Sephy: You weren’t kidnapped by giant man-eating octopi?
Shampoo: What Seanma talk about? Shampoo make ramen for her Seanma, no get kidnapped by octopi...
Sephy: Oh... *grabs the ramen* Well... that’s a good thing, otherwise, who else would make me ramen?
Skuld: I would!
Chupon: GRAW.
Locke: *looking at Chupon* ...and that’s how you can make your fur the shiniest.

A Brief History of Japanese Animation in Two Sentences (by Cyber Kitty)
After the end of World War II, the Japanese were bitter and made cartoons that poked fun at the Americans portraying them with big eyes. Little do people realize, these big mouthed and insanely huge eyed characters (such as C-ko from Project A-ko) are meant to be American.

Closing: On the Beach...
Sephy: *sets a bunch of logs on fire that spell out ‘rescue me’ when viewed from above* If I had my Pikachu with surf, I could just get off this stupid island...
Skuld: In a few days, I think I can make a steamboat out of coconuts, and it’ll be the biggest steam boat this side of the Mississippi!!! BWA, HA, HA!!!
Sephy: I think she’s finally cracked...
Shampoo: Seanma marry Shampoo now?
Sephy: ... Maybe Gatomon, Zell, and Cyber Kitty’ll save us... *looks shocked* If we’re not back in a week and a half, they’ll have to make the next issue!!! I almost wish I attached a note to Purin when I star-pinged him...
Shampoo: Hiya...
